What NOT To Order At Cafes

I’m sitting here enjoying my morning coffee at Starbucks in Kuta. I’m planning out the final details of tomorrow’s -7day health and wellness retreat here in Bali.

From Where You’d Rather Be – Sanur, Bali

I’m sitting here watching the tourists come and order their coffees, and I wanted to share some tips.

You see, I love my coffee. That includes anything coffee flavoured: Coffee drinks, chocolate coffee beans, coffee ice cream.

You name it – If it involves coffee, I’m all over it.

I particularly love Frappuccino’s from Starbucks, as they contain my two loves – coffee and ice cream.

The problem is, they don’t love my waistline – for example the Chocolate Cream Venti Frappucino contain 600 calories, and 69 grams of sugar and 20g of fat. You can of course order the fat-free version, which is about as healthy as ordering the diet Coke with the extra large McDonalds meal.

These blended drinks are for people who say they like coffee, but in reality, they just really love ice cream. And want to say they like coffee.

Starbuck’s is great to get some work done, and to enjoy a normal coffee. But it’s terrible if you have a sweet tooth. If you want to make this drink fit into your daily macros, that’s totally fine. It’s just interesting the people who fail to realise half of their daily calorie requirements are in this sweet little drink.

Of the past 10 people to order, 7 of them have ordered a high-sugar, insulin spiking coffee.

So if you’re looking to satisfy your Starbucks addiction with a sugary, ice-creamy drink of goodness, try this one:

Creamy Chocolatey Espresso Goodness Smoothie (Great name right?)

  • 1 Espresso shot
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 6 oz of Almond Milk (unsweetened)
